About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled manager to support the Northeastern's Roux Institute through the collection, analysis, and dissemination of institutional data to inform strategic planning, policy-making, and institutional effectiveness. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of higher education and startup environment metrics, and the ability to communicate complex data in a clear and actionable manner to various internal and external stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all stakeholder audiences, translating for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Produce and deliver succinct, compelling materials.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS, R), data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI), and finance systems (Banner, Workday, Salesforce).
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, decision-making, and time management skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience with database management and data integrity practices.
  • Knowledge of higher education metrics, reporting requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Knowledge and skills are normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Data Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of two years' experience in an institutional research role. Knowledge of a higher education environment is preferred.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1) Data Collection and Analysis
  • Develop and implement methodologies for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting institutional data.
  • Conduct surveys, focus groups, and other research methods to gather information on student outcomes, faculty performance, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Utilize statistical tools and software to analyze data trends and generate reports.
  • Create, maintain and update institutional databases and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Develop and implement procedures to maintain high standards of data accuracy, consistency, and security. Address any discrepancies or issues related to data collection and reporting.
  • Manage data requests from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Work with internal teams to understand and organize their existing data and enhance existing tools for data collection and tracking.


2) Reporting and Presentation
  • Prepare and present reports on institutional performance metrics, including student retention and graduation rates, faculty productivity, and financial health to organizational leadership.
  • Provide clear and actionable data to inform operational and strategic decision making, customer and partner satisfaction, and drive better organizational outcomes.
  • Create visualizations and dashboards to effectively communicate data findings to stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of institutional reports required for accreditation, compliance, donor relations, and strategic planning.
  • Foster strong working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrative units. Provide consultation and support on research-related matters and data interpretation. Facilitate workshops and training sessions on data usage and analysis.


3) Other Duties
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to identify data needs and provide insights that support decision-making.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of institutional policies and initiatives through rigorous data analysis.
  • Support the creation of external marketing materials that highlight the accomplishments of the institute.
  • Support strategic planning efforts by providing relevant data and projections.
  • Stay current with trends and best practices in institutional research and higher education analytics.
  • Provide support for special projects and other duties as assigned.
