THE DEPARTMENT:
The Division of University Advancement is one of five central divisions of the university whose primary purpose is to enhance the private support and knowledge of the university. This is accomplished by initiating programs, events and activities that stimulate the involvement and interest of alumni, friends, parents, corporations and foundations to develop relationships that will foster and stimulate giving to the university. The office the Vice President of University Advancement oversees the offices of development, alumni and external relations, advancement services and annual giving. The division manages and operates the Cal Poly Pomona Philanthropic Foundations which serves as the official entity to receive and manage all contributions to the University.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting, Analysis, Data Integrity
- Build and execute queries, reports, data visualizations for fundraising and engagement strategy.
- Utilize practical experience to formulate, interpret, and provide solutions to enhance query capabilities, dashboards, performance metrics, planning, strategy, and timing of operational and fundraising activities.
- Create forecasting reports, engagement scoring, predictive modeling tools/reports.
- Support the maturation of the prospect development pipeline through analysis and reporting.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, make conclusions and recommendations for approach.
- Responsible for promoting appropriate data use through planning, policy and protocols.
- Ensure data and system integrity. Identify, analyze, and perform data cleanup as needed.
- Responsible for data assessment, mapping, migration, implementations, testing, and validation of current, related, and future systems.
Relational Database Management
- Identify, direct, and implement definitions and protocols of what relationship management data is recorded, where it is recorded, who records it, how it can be searched, how it can be exported, and what policies govern it.
- Develop and execute strategies to incorporate common prospect tracking data in the relationship management system, such as prospect ratings, staff assignments, solicitation goals strategies moves contact reports proposals and stages.
Prospect Pool/Base Analysis
- Utilize alumni and donor database, Excel, and/or other statistical program tools to provide detailed descriptive statistics and manage the overall prospect pool and pipeline, such as, number and percent of pool at each rating level, prospect stage, donors vs. non-donors, assigned vs. unassigned, geographical location and other segments.
- Apply prospect analysis results to support decisions for long-term organizational planning, such as setting campaign goals, defining fundraising priorities, event planning and regional initiatives, and making staff-time allocation recommendations.
- Determine what constitutes a good prospect through analysis, conversations with staff, and knowledge of organizational history.
- Assist in the research and production of briefings for development-related meetings, trips, and events.
- Participates in the tracking and reviewing of contact reports filed by gift officers to assess donor interests, prioritize donors for ratings, and works with others to ensure key data points are documented in the database of record.
- Training
Identify, create, implement techniques, which will improve productivity for the user community. - Develop training materials and perform training for user community.
- Coordinate with the data governance group on proposed changes to operational and/or data structure/fields.
- Assist users with questions and requests for changes to reports, dashboards, exports, etc.
- Maintain and update related policies and procedures documentation.
Technology
- Stays abreast of current emerging technologies in philanthropy, fundraising, higher education, data and prospect analysis, predictive modeling, engagement scoring, and business intelligence.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
- Minimum two years related experience
- Working knowledge of, and ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations; thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or administrative specialty; working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques; ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skill in research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications; ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively; demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form; ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge in Excel, Excel macros, pivot tables, graphical reporting such as Tableau.
- Development of data analysis and reporting, Raiser's Edge, Tableau, PowerBI, NXT, Crystal Reports, forecasting, predictive modeling, knowledge of current trends in database management, reporting and best practices, using CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education), AASP (Association of Advancement Services Professionals), and IRS rules and regulations.

CSU Classification Salary Range
This position is part of the California State University Employees Union (CSUEU) bargaining unit 9. The CSU Classification Standards for this position are located on the CSU Classification Standards website. The CSU Salary Schedule is located on the CSU Salary Schedule website. The classification salary range for this position according to the respective skill level is: minimum $4,598 and maximum $8,318 per month. University Driving Requirements
Positions that require driving for university business by using a personal or state vehicle must comply with the Authorized University Driver Policy. Driving records are monitored and evaluated by the Risk Management Department. The Risk Management Department evaluates a good driving report based on the following criteria. The driver must: 1. Have a valid California or other State Driver's license. 2. Have no more than 3 motor vehicle violations or been the cause of 3 accidents in a 12-month period (or any combination of 3 thereof) 3. Not have more than 3 DMV Points, if their license is Class C or, 4. Not have more than 5 DMV Points, if their license is Class A, B, or C with endorsements.
